Will deleting songs off i-Tunes delete off of my I-pod?

The music in my computer is taking up a lot of memory, the thing is I don't wanna lose the music on my I-pod of I wanted to upload some more music again. If I delete my music off my windows media player, will it affect my i-Tunes playlist? All he music on my media player is WMA, and when put on my i-Tunes, it was converted to some other file format. Will deleting WMA files from the Windows Media Player affect my i-Tunes playlist? If I delete music off my i-Tunes, next time I hook up my i-pod, will my songs that were deleted off my i-Tunes be deleted off my i-pod as well?
