What type of boots are both comfy and in-style?

Comfy along the lines of uggs, but not so plain and out-of-style. Preferably something inexpensive. Last winter at my college was a bit chilly and I'd like something better than my DCs to keep my feet warm. Any suggestions for cute but inexpensive boots that are comfy and warm?
