What color should our cabinets and countertops be if our walls are tan and minor appliances are red?

The walls are paneled so that the top half is a light beige/ tan color and the paneling is white. Our cabinets are currently white but we are considering refinishing them to an light maple. Our floor is hardwood that is painted a colonial blue. Curtains, small appliances and towels are red. Major appliances are white although we may change them out for newer ones. What color should we paint the cabinetry-leave them white or paint an oak or maple color? What color granite would you use for the countertops? What backsplash would we get a high return on?
