My English teacher doesn't like me?

Try talking to him. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, write him a note. However, teachers push the kids they know can do better. If he once called you his star student, maybe he's just trying to push you to do better because he has faith in you. The same goes for parents and coaches. They all push the kids they know can do better. It's a compliment really.
