I want to be an English teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in another field. Tips?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications from a well respected university. I have decided that I want to be an English teacher (literature, not language). How do I go about getting certified? Should I get an ociates, Bachelor, or Masters degree? I want to teach in California if that helps.
